1,200 kJ laser gun

A late 21st-century vehicular beam gun. This fires a high-energy beam of coherent light in the red visable-light spectrum. The beam is silent and invisible in vacuum. In an atmosphere, weapons-grade lasers ionize the air, leaving a line of tiny sparks and an audible 'Crack!' as air rushes into the vacuum left in the beam's wake. The beam is rated for 1,200 kilojoules of output per shot.
